Il Sereno: Design lessons from Patricia Urquiola

Feb 18, 2022

This time the spotlight is on Hotel Il Sereno on Lake Como in Italy and its latest penthouse, designed by Patricia Urquiola. The space is decorated 'in the style of post-war Italian glamour, Dolce Vita and Italian modernism'.

The interiors of the penthouse are a tribute to Italian tradition and design. There are floors lined with traditional Venetian terrazzo, ceilings decorated with Canaletto walnut and, of course, furniture made in Italy, including the Love Me Tender sofa by Moroso, the L60 bed by Cassina and chairs designed by Joe Ponti.

The opening of the penthouse was accompanied by another unusual initiative. As guests often enquire about room furnishings, hotel owner Luis Contreras decided to launch a website where they can purchase key pieces of furniture, from the sofa and bed to lamps, accessories, carpets and bedspreads.

The current project is a continuation of a collaboration between Il Sereno Hotel and designer Patricia Urquiola that began more than five years ago. The hotel opened in 2016 and was the first new construction to appear on the shores of Lake Como in 70 years.

And we remind you that the furniture pictured can be purchased without leaving Minsk. To order your furniture, please contact New Studio interior salon located at 12 Nemiga, 2nd floor.

New Studio is a representative of the Italian factories Moroso and Cassina in Belarus.
